Vintage shabby chic design.
This design is where  furniture is  either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed  to get  the appearance of an antique and vintage . Shabby chic items are often heavily painted , with many layers showing their age and how worn they look . The style can also be made or look alike  by painting then sanding away the top coat to show the wood or base coats,"distressing" the finish of the furniture.  Fabrics tend to be cottons and linens,  inspired by old linens.  Whites, as well  worn or bleached ,with vintage floral patterns like pastel colours,  or linen in neutral earth tones, are all typical used to get the shabby chic style .
Besides white, the shabby chic style also includes soft neutral colours such as sky blue, rose pink and beige tones a lot of pastels . 'bits from French-style interior design  like lighting , furniture and wall paneling are taken to add more to the design .The shabby chic designs idea  is using timeworn garden furniture and feminine accessories.

decor is  made by using  vintage chandeliers, and anything with roses in the design. It is a soft, relaxed, feminine, romantic style of decorating that looks comfortable and inviting.

shabby chic style  has alot of worn and faded  sofas and curtains and old paintings  . The  shabby chic design is made  to achieve an elegant overall effect, recycling old furniture and fabrics is an important  for the look .

VISUAL PRODUCT : inspiration from art ,design ,media

Here are some images that had some impact on me .I wanted to get the colour scheme from the film Marie-Antoinette.
ž          I decided to choose that colour scheme as I loved the pastels that were used .
ž           They made the costumes look as they were from a different age yet still make them transcend into our current style as ,pastels are very much in fažshion at the moment.
From art I wanted to use art deco as I wanted my visual product to be bold yet sophisticated.
ž         I wanted the product to be eye catching and out there ,like what the art pretty much means or at least that's what I get from art deco.
ž         I also tyred to make the dress decorative much like art deco ,I would have liked to add some of the geometric style but it would have been over the top. Finally from design I wanted to get the feel of the 20’s here and there for example the beading I wanted                                                                        to add to the torso of the dress.
ž                                                                                 Although the dress shape I wanted to be totally different from that 20’s style and went it kind of a small ball gown design which I got fro the film

VISUAL PRODUCT PRT 5

So finally I have chosen everything to create the whole outfit. My final drawing has finaly been finished although not every detail I wanted were encorporated I had to draw it in a slightly darker colour to show the difference between materials.and I only drew in a necklace. although I couldnt draw it all I still show  everything when I  do the presentation. The colour composition is going to be off white and blush with the playsuit embellished .These are the materials Im would use to create the dress
this is for the skirt and sleeves which will give it that see true look and will give the flow and movment that I would like it to have .

this is for the play suit which would then be embellished.

and finaly here is my final drawing

This design falls under the theme movment ,because by using certaine materials will make it flow and move alot .By using chiffon as the material of the skirt. My peronal thaughts and reflections on the design is that it is a good design ,I do really like it .I wish I could of brought out some more detail. But I couldnt with just drawing so I decided that in the presentation I would bring images of the materials I would like to use.But all in all it came out good.

VISUAL PRODUCT PRT 4

I decided to make the bottom of the dress with chiffon to make it flow and almost sheer, transparent look.
I also thought about the accessories I wanted to add to the dress to make it a full out fit first I looked at shoes I wanted some thing different which is when I knew I had to look to Alexander McQueen's winged  design shoes.

From the jewellery aspect to the dress I decided to just add some knuckle rings and a few simple bracelets and a small delicate pendant necklace

as for the hair I've got 2 choices one it miley cyrus's
or for long hair I would have chosen a hair style like this
which I then would have styled with a head piece or maybe some thing  like this to give it more style, although they look very much alike they are very different .

So here again I'm showing the sketch that I decided to build on
So really love the play suit look and decided to incorporate it into the design that I have created ,I was going to make the play suit actually have that 20's feel to it by make it material all embellished it was eider that or make it a whole corset .This is the style of the play suit I wanted to create and the exact colour too.

I also really loved the embellishments on this dress and wondered if I could maybe do some thing like it on the play suit to give it the 20's feel
I also decided to make the sleeves off shoulder but with a twist I made the sleeves transparent to match the bottom of the dress .I also cut out pieces off both sleeves.
I also made the shape of the neck line  of the dress a deep sweet heart neck line as it gives it a better shape and look to the dress .

VISUAL PRODUCT PRT 2

So in my previous blog I talked about were I got my first inspiration from ,and about what I started thinking about  doing to create the design  for the dress . So I started looking at some photos and some fashion choices from some of my fashion icons like Merilyn Monroe

and Audrey Hepburn

then comparing or modernising them .I also started sketching some styles i would of liked them to be and then picking one to create the final piece.at first I tyred a water colour attempt to sketch the design which I ended up hating but the concept was there.so this is the image
So after this failed attempt I looked around some more and started to look at more modern day artists and mostly I looked at Dita Von teese red carpet looks as she is a modern day image of what the 50's looked like ,I also looked for the sophistication but still fun  piece of my design by looking at Anne Hathaway, and this may sound strange but the only place i thought of looking for the edge to the piece was by looking to Miley cyrus she is a person that really inspires me to try different things and be out there and not an other face in the crowed so that is why she was an essential piece to my design .

I started sketching again and actually came up with exactly what i wanted it just needed a little tweaking here and there .

VISUAL PRODUCT. PRT 1

                                                           VISUAL PRODUCT.

I have decided to create a design for a dress for my visual. I have been looking over the essays I  gave in which mostly talked about the impact  through out different eras has had on fashion. So I decided to mix and match different eras of fashion together to bring out a different out come which would consist of different styles that still would be flowing and appealing, not a sour to your eyes.

I wanted to create something that's edgy and out there but I wanted to make it that any woman could pull it off and not be afraid to wear some thing like this. I decided to take pieces from an iconic costume from the 1940's  worn by Ginger Rodgers in the movie lady in the dark .

Since the moment I set eyes on this dress I loved it as I love that idea of a costume ,because it lets you look like a totally different person ,It gives you confidence and lets you play an other role were you can be anything you would like to.Although at first the dress gives you the illusion of just a simple long dress with just some embellishments on the top ,if you look closer the bottom  half opens straight through the middle and reveals the true inside of the dress.
This actually really got me thinking about what I would do to the dress to make it more modern and up to date but still have that vintage feel to it . How the dress opens gave me an idea ,in the dress we see here you actually have to hold the dress up to see the inside which I didn't really like ,so how could i do some thing like this on the bottom but will not loose the fun in it ,SLITS .I taught about it and actually said yea if I add two long slits in the bottom of the dress on each side  it would still have the same effect but different at the same time .
